WORKSHOP WITH PARENTS: SIMON & KARI
5th May 2014

This morning we had a very special English session in Billar: Kari and Simon came to our class to talk about their countries: the USA and the UK.

We first noticed that their accent is very different from Ross's and between them. Kari is from the USA, Simon is from the UK and Ross is from Australia. So we had the chance to listen to three different English accents in the same classroom!

Kari and Simon have talked about the location of their countries and about such other general information as number of people living there, size of the country, currency used there... But they've also talked about their landscapes, landmarks, typical food, sports and music.

We've also had the opportunity to check what we know about these countries with them.

Cluedo, get ready! Next Monday, Kari and Simon are coming to your classroom!

And thanks Simon and Kari for your time and concern!

Information about Barcelona for our e-twinning partners
In Cluedo today, we've been talking about the information we want our Polish partners to know about Barcelona. This is what we've come up with:
  1. TOURISM
Monuments & museums: In Barcelona there are a lot of important monuments and museums: Sagrada Família, Pedrera, Torre Agbar, MNAC, MACBA, CaixaForum, CosmoCaixa...
City beach: Barcelona is on the coast, it's a city beach.
Others: In Barcelona there is a zoo, a funfair (Tibidabo). It has double-decker buses for tourists.
  1. FOOD
There are about 16,000 restaurants. There are restaurants from all nationalities: Vietnamese, Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Italian, French, Peruvian, Brazilian...
There are a lot of restaurants with michelin stars.
Typical food here is: pa amb tomàquet, calçots, fuet, butifarra...
  1. TRANSPORT
In Barcelona we have many means of transport such as metro, buses, tram, bicing, trains...
  1. ENVIRONMENT
In summer it's very hot surrounding Barcelona and there are fires.
There are a lot of electric means of transport: taxis, buses, cars, trains, trams, motorbikes...
There are a lot of pigeons. Their excrements damage buildings.
  1. GEOGRAPHY
Barcelona is surrounded by two rivers (Besós and Llobregat), the beach and hills (Collserola).
The climate is very mild and it rarely snows.
The population of Barcelona is very dense (a lot of people in a small area)
  1. HISTORY
Some neighbourhoods today were little villages in the past. So, we have a lot of traditional festivals (Mercè, Sant Medir, Santa Eulàlia...)
